Tap dancer Arthur Duncan, country singer Ava Barber ("Bucket to the South") and singer-dancer Mary Lou Metzger -- all former Welk regulars -- are set to star during the run of this merry and bright variety show for the whole family. The pop-culture phenomenon known as The Lawrence Welk Show was a hit on TV for more than 30 years, as its genial baton-wielding host showcased singers, dancers, and musicians and brought "champagne music" -- and soap bubbles -- to the masses (and to Saturday Night Live parodies). This Yuletide extravaganza boasts sparkling costumes, sets and production numbers, that're sure to get you in the holiday spirit. Learn More

If you've seen the Platt Brothers recently you will already be familiar with this show -- I knew all the stories and routines having seen them twice before. If, however, you are a newbie (or want to share the brothers with one who's never seen them), then this is a wonderful introduction to all things Platt. Energetic to the point of frenetic, the brothers put on a display of acrobatics, dance, song and wild storytelling. They are multi-talented: their choreography and timing are amazing and they harmonize wonderfully. Probably the best advice I can give is to take young children to the show: there is no cursing or lewdness whatsoever, it's a squeaky-clean show, and by the time they're taking their bows the Platt Brothers may have your children more interested in the adventurous world of imagination rather than the spoon-fed pabulum of TV.
