The Steins are having an identity crisis: Mom has been "born again" and spends all day chatting with Jesus in the kitchen; Dad hasn't gotten out of his pajamas in weeks and is starting to smell; and 16 year old Rachel is coping by going "goth." Who will save this family? Jesus? Stephen Hawking? Or Rachel's awkward new classmate who shows up at their door in his Elvis jumpsuit?

The Girl in the Yellow Dress: New Play Explores Sex, Race, Language

Full Price:
$30.00 - $40.00
Our Price:
$15.00 - $20.00

Well-reviewed at the prestigious 2010 Edinburgh Theater Festival, The Girl in the Yellow Dress is set in current-day Paris, and explores the relationship between a recently-transplanted British woman and the French-Congolese man who comes to her for English-language lessons. Sexual flirtations give way to class and racial frictions in this increasingly disquieting atmosphere, which examines the use -- and misuse -- of language itself as a way to wield power. Carrie Coon and Austin Talley star in South African playwright Craig Higginson's drama. Learn More

I was enjoying the show until they introduced the insufferably sonorous sounds of thunder in the second act. This bothered me so much that I actually left the theater.
