Jazz is inherently sexy, and so it's fitting that the Rembrandt Chamber Players open their 25th anniversary season with Romance & Jazz. The show begins with the Midwest premiere of Grammy Award-winning artist Howard Levy's Sonata for Oboe and Piano -- a kaleidoscope of jazz, abstract blues and Brazilian rhythms. Aficionados will recognize Levy as co-founder, along with Bela Fleck, of the Flecktones. Mozart's effervescent Quartet for flute and strings follows, as well as Bartók's intricate and intense Romanian Dances (the first movement of which was influenced by melodies played by gypsy violinists in Transylvania). The lush and romantic music of Vaughan Williams' Quintet for piano and strings closes the evening. The ensemble is joined by special guests Howard Levy on harmonica and Renée-Paule Gauthier playing violin. Learn More
