"There's No Business Like Show Business" -- and Wayne LeGette shows you why in Oy Vey...It's Broadway, his tribute to comedic Jewish musical theater, including Broadway favorites from Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, Sweeney Todd, West Side Story and many more. Performing popular tunes from Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim -- artists who helped shape, and continue to shape, the sounds of modern-day Broadway -- LeGette celebrates the remarkable Jewish influence on the most recognizable songs and shows on the Great White Way. Hmmm... What to say? Different... Interesting...
Not my favorite Thinking Cap production, but appreciate the freshness & thought behind TCT performances, so always look forward to them.
(Will be going to their Ravenhill reading on 3/17!)
The show runs one hour and contains mature content. It is not intended for those under the age of 17.
About the Ticket Supplier: Thinking Cap Theatre
Since its founding in 2010, Thinking Cap Theatre has brought a slice of NYC’s downtown theatre scene to downtown Fort Lauderdale. Thinking Cap has made a name for itself locally and nationally for tackling challenging works. The company’s artistic director Nicole Stodard was named Best Director by the New Times in 2012.
Thinking Cap is devoted to experimental, provocative, and socially-conscious work. We program plays that tell compelling stories in fresh and surprising ways. Thinking Cap also aims to engage with works that treat a range of identities more accurately reflective of today’s society; to dismantle norms and stereotypes through non-reactionary, honest means; and to present historical works that have rarely or never seen the light of the stage.
