Hillbarn Theatre presents the comedic play Social Security, which finds the humor in life's so-called "golden years." Trendy Manhattan art gallery owners Barbara and David Kahn's lives are upended when Barbara's sister deposits their eccentric mother, Sophie, on the couple's doorstep so she and her husband can head to Buffalo to rescue their sexually precocious teenage daughter from a ménage à trois with two men. Barbara and David introduce Sophie to suave 90-something artist Maurice Koenig, who offers to paint her portrait -- and soon begins to brighten her life in ways she never expected at her age. Social Security was written by Andrew Bergman, who has also penned a number of big-screen comedy classics, including Blazing Saddles, The In-Laws, Fletch and Honeymoon in Vegas.

I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful play about hope and love at any age. The cast was very professional in their performances and the humor was great. The production values of the performance was outstanding. I would highly recommend this play to anyone wishing to have a great time, a tear in their eye and a warm heart.

The four of us not only enjoyed "Social Security" but thought it was a wonderful production and haven't stopped trying to spread the word to friends. It left nothing to be desired and we left the theatre feeling happy and full of joy. Thanks so very much!

About the Ticket Supplier: Hillbarn Theatre

Hillbarn Theatre boasts a sixty-five-year-long history. Beginning as Peninsula Little Theatre in 1934, Hillbarn performed in school auditoriums, under the direction of Robert Brauns, as part of the College of San Mateo Adult Education Program. Hillbarn's founders, Brauns, Sam Rolph and Ralph Schram took the name "Hillbarn" from two outdoor summers at a barn on a hill on the Belmont-San Mateo border. At this site, the traditions of free intermission coffee and a courtyard bonfire were born.
