Based on the playwright's life and considered one of Arthur Miller's most personal plays, After The Fall follows a man on his quest to make peace with his own history and with the tumultuous world around him. This experimental portrait of a man struggling with the choices he has made in his public and private life examines the personal, political and universal forces that collide when we "fall" from innocence. Following the death of his second wife, Quentin tries to move forward, but he must also relive childhood losses, failed marriages and the effects of the 1950s' Blacklist. This rarely produced classic is presented by the HumanArts Theater Company. Learn More

What an enjoyable afternoon..truly a "laughter to tears" event! I thought all of the performers interacted very well...and each brought value to their parts with good character development...each had their 'own' personalities and it really felt like a close "family" story. We brought our senior neighbor and heard her sniffles during the sad parts. Very believable. The coffee at break time is a nice touch, and the 2minute childrens preview about (the Great Pumpkin?) was really cute...good exposure. Keep up the good work. We love this community theatre and look forward to our return.Written on Nov 09 2009

Hillbarn Theatre always produces quality shows that stay in the memory long after the final curtain. The staff is always friendly and helpful from the moment you walk into the lobby. The set for this particular show was especially true to life. Truvy's Beauty Parlor complete with sinks and hair dryers. The lighting was very effective and captured the mood of the play. The cast was very good and convinced me of the total devotion these women felt for one another in good times and bad. This was a touching play and made for a wonderful addition to the Hillbarn season.Written on Nov 09 2009

Very good production of a very funny play. It made me want to get a copy of the script so I can use some of the material to make people laugh myself.Written on Nov 05 2009

More Information About Steel Magnolias
Description
by Robert Harling
Directed by Ann Kuchins
The quintessential story of friendship and trust, Steel Magnolias serves up a southern slice of life that's as warm and comforting as sweet potato pie! In the world of Truvy's local-homegrown beauty salon, six very different women come together to share their secrets, fears and love for one another while engaging the audience in hysterical and neighborly gossip. From weddings to divorces, babies to funerals, new beginnings to happy endings, they share each moment in their lives with grace, determination, and perfectly coiffed hair. When tragedy strikes, it is in the familiar comfort of Truvy's salon where they seek the solace and support that carries them through.
Hailed by the Daily News as "a finely constructed piece of theatre, as resilient, as funny, as moving, and as bracing as its marvelous title characters," Robert Harling's enduring comedy is a heartfelt celebration of love, loyalty, and the bonds of sisterhood.
About the Ticket Supplier: Hillbarn Theatre
Hillbarn Theatre boasts a sixty-five-year-long history. Beginning as Peninsula Little Theatre in 1934, Hillbarn performed in school auditoriums, under the direction of Robert Brauns, as part of the College of San Mateo Adult Education Program. Hillbarn's founders, Brauns, Sam Rolph and Ralph Schram took the name "Hillbarn" from two outdoor summers at a barn on a hill on the Belmont-San Mateo border. At this site, the traditions of free intermission coffee and a courtyard bonfire were born.
