Designing Women is back with a vengeance, but it's not like any episode of the show you ever saw on TV. Parody superstar Jamie Morris (The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode, Mommie Queerest) is at it again, bringing the ladies and gents of the Sugarbaker Design Firm back with a twist -- all of the cast members are played by men. Plagued by the faltering economy, the designing "women" are about to go out of business, when vapid ex-beauty queen Suzanne has an idea to get free publicity by starting a reality show. Soon camera crews are following the antics of the four Southern belles, their ex-con delivery man and their daffy family friend. The producers get more than they bargain for and plenty of zany footage of Julia's high-charged tirades, Mary Jo's cocktail-infused, tell-all testimonials and Charlene's down-home, hillbilly, there's-got-to-be-a-point-to-this-story material. A well written and directed play with an exceptional cast(most playing multiple roles)and a lead actress who fully occupies a modern coming of age story. Only down note -- the air conditioning was not working and there was a full house!
This play contains adult situations and partial nudity. Parental discretion is advised.
Running time is 1 hour and 30 minutes with one intermission.
