In this comedy, three middle-aged friends reunite at their favorite fishing spot -- Newport Pier -- for what they expect will be a relaxing day by the water. What they didn't count on, however, was a run-in with the local Elks Club. At the Arches, by local playwright Terry McNicol, explores a hilarious array of Newport Beach characters.

This was our first time attending this quaint, little theater in Fullerton. Great little venue.

For a local playwrite I found this production entertaining. It was funny at times and I enjoyed the local references. It was approximately an hour or so which was the perfect time for this production. Any longer and it would have lost me.

A good idea for a story that was only mildly funny at times. It was filled with filthy speech though, evidently for cheap laughs. There is no such thing as "Adult Language". It's just a euphemism for obscene speech.

More Information About At the Arches

Description

STAGEStheatre presents At the Arches, written and directed by Terry McNicol. STAGES has a well-known penchant to produce original works by local playwrights. McNicol, a long-time contributor at STAGEStheatre, returns with a new piece set at Newport Pier that regales the reunion of three friends who declare that the worst day fishing is better than the best day working.

A peaceful reunion at a favorite fishing spot turns into "The Fishermen vs. The Elks"-- Elks Club, that is. Several STAGES regulars grace the stage along with a few new faces. Don't miss the hilarious array of Newport Beach characters who live their lives At the Arches.
