With famous characters, brilliant costumes and haunting music, Ragtime creates a dazzling diorama of turn-of-the-century New York, teeming with the raw energy of a still-young nation. Based on E.L. Doctorow's acclaimed novel, this melting pot drama is told from the perspective of three ethnically diverse families whose fates unexpectedly intertwine. Real-life figures like Harry Houdini, Booker T. Washington, Henry Ford and Emma Goldman make surprising and often illuminating cameo appearances throughout this "triumph for the stage" (Time magazine). With music and lyrics by the Tony Award-winning team of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, the production boasts a Tony Award-winning book by Terrence McNally and such memorable songs as "Getting Ready Rag," "Wheels of a Dream," "Till We Reach That Day" and "Make Them Hear You." Now 3-D Theatricals brings a new production to Plummer Auditorium. Learn More

The cast was wonderful. Lovely voices and excellent dancing. We could understand the singers but we had trouble understanding the spoken words.I imagine it had to do with their sound system. Our seats were good.
Unfortunately there were a lot of empty seats. The performance was certainly good enough to warrant a full audience.

The cast was energetic, but something was lacking. I never felt transported into the action on the stage. The actors' timing could have been better - maybe one really powerful actor would have give the show a more professonal feel. Sorry.
Set in the Oklahoma territory in the early 1900’s just before it becomes a state, this story of young love, cowboys and farmers has been a perennial favorite since it opened on Broadway in 1943. Celebrating the show’s 65th anniversary, the FCLO Music Theatre is mounting a big, fresh new production, starring Doug Carpenter as Curly and Rexy Romano as Laurie.
Known for its spectacular dancing and the innovative “dream ballet”, the show also contains many tunes that have become popular standards, including “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin”, “The Surrey With the Fringe on Top”, “People Will Say We’re in Love”, “ I Can’t Say No”, and “Oklahoma!”. The show is suitable for the entire family.
