STAGEStheatre invites you to kick off the holiday season with their presentation of Joe Landry's It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. This heartwarming classic is a show within a show. It's December 24, 1946 in Studio A at WSTG Radio, and a cast of actors is preparing to present It's a Wonderful Life live to the listening audience. With the help of only a pianist and a sound-effects artist, the ensemble re-enacts the story of George Bailey, a young man whose dreams of traveling the world are thwarted by his sense of responsibility to the family business. Down on his luck when the banks crash, Bailey is at the end of his rope. He questions his purpose in life and considers ending it all. Just then, an angel arrives to show Bailey how the lives of those he loves would be affected if he were not around. This 2013 production marks STAGEStheatre's fifth time producing this beloved holiday favorite. If you're looking for a December tradition to share with the family, this fits the bill perfectly. There's a new tenant at Armadillo Acres—and she's wreaking havoc all over Florida's most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, the stripper on the run, comes between the Dr. Phil–loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband—the storms begin to brew. Adultery, strippers, murderous ex-boyfriends, Costco and the Ice Capades. Entertaining and tuneful, Trailer Park shines like aluminum siding.
Jack Millis has directed throughout Orange County. His productions include the Southern California premieres of Small Domestic Acts and Thrill Me, the Orange County premieres of Zanna, Don't! and Happy Endings Are Extra and the audience and critically acclaimed production of Angels in America: Millennium Approaches for Theatre Out/Maverick. He recently directed The Little Dog Laughed for the Long Beach Playhouse. He is very honored to have been asked to direct a show that he has been wanting to do for the past 5 years, especially at a theatre for which he has a lot of respect and with such a talented cast and crew.
