In this encore performance, Terri Mowrey uses song, dance, drama and comedy to share her lifelong love of musical theater with you. Voted Best Orange County Actress 2011 by the OC Weekly, Mowrey's hilarious and personal story is told by reenacting the movie version of the 1961 musical West Side Story in her small apartment. While this might sound like theatrical overkill, Mowrey pulls the effort off seamlessly through musical numbers and personal insights. You'll love her singing, dancing and funny interjections in this unique performance. Learn More

What a great show! At first I wondered if the modern set and costuming would detract from the time period of the show, but the acting was so spot on that you were completely hooked into the relationships and the wonderful characters. This is a great script with very biring humor and all the actors played their roles to a tee. Great job all! What this show needs is a larger audience, so plan on catching it before it's over!Written on Dec 14 2009

An excellent corps of actors did their level best (which was, admittedly, was pretty darned good) to carry the production and very nearly succeeded. The choice to update the costuming to present day and play a selection of 40's music, mostly, but not entirely perky Christmas Carols, sent the whole production off-kilter, though. And while sparse sets and minimal props make a production cheap to do, they also, in this case, make it cheap to look at.Written on Dec 21 2009
Again, a very adept and talented cast, all clever and very aware of the needs and appetites of their characters, hamstrung by strange production choices.

A high energy performance of a classic play by a well matched cast. This group does justice to a difficult dramatic work, the story of a dysfunctional family. Only in this case the family happens to rule half of Europe. Special kudos to Amber Scott who sensitively portrays Eleanor of Aquitaine; by turns a vulnerable woman and a ruthless despot. I am looking forward to great things from the Hunger Artists. Stay for the late nite burlesque review after the play; retro fun.Written on Dec 12 2009

An excellent play by James Goldman that takes a cynical and contemporary look at relationships and political maneuvering in the era of Henry Plantagenet is well-acted by an all-around talented cast. Unburdened by props, period costumes or sets, the cast stands in the foreground, along with the language, and excels in a battle of wits and barbs that equals Shakespeare.Written on Dec 21 2009

About the Ticket Supplier: Hunger Artists Theatre Company
Founded in 1996 by a group of longtime friends, The Hunger Artists Theatre Company is the first Orange County-based alternative theater to grow out of Orange Coast College's Repertory Theater. While at Coast, the future members of The Hunger Artists honed their craft as actors, directors, playwrights and technicians, while developing the hip, smart, irreverent attitude and subversive theatrical sensibility that would later earn them notice as one of the county's most adventurous and unpredictable small theater companies.
