Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show returns to the Maverick. This sinfully twisted salute to horror, sci-fi, B-movies and rock music is presented in the style of the original Roxy stage production in Hollywood that served as the inspiration for the movie.

In this Pulitzer and Tony-nominated comedy by Craig Lucas, a whirlwind romance and marriage takes a startling turn when an mysterious old man congratulates the bride with a kiss. With this kiss, Rita (the bride) and the man have what could be described as a Twilight Zone moment that sends Rita and her would-be husband on a mysterious journey, as they test the true strength of their love, beyond the surface connections that first drew them to one another. Prelude to a Kiss was commissioned and originally staged by South Coast Repertory in January 1988. The play later went on to Broadway and was made into a feature film starring Alec Baldwin and Meg Ryan. Staged Cinema Productions' performance of the play is directed by David Chorley. Learn More

I was a Rocky Horror virgin and this was a very professional entertaining show. The thing I didnt understand is I arrived 60 min early, was the 1st in line for general admission and when the line-up entered the small theater more then half of the good seats were taken. Not sure if there is a VIP or where everyone came from but I think a lot were disappointed with the view even if they arrived early.

Great interactive show. Be prepared to get wet! Nice small cabaret style theatre. We had a great time. The cast was good, I think the Narrator was a stand out as well was Eddie/Dr. Scott. The prop bags were fun & I love the Rocky lite up pin that comes with it. If you're a fan of RHP go see this with some friends & have a fun time!!! Definitely rated R-17 More risque then the movie!

More Information About The Rocky Horror Show

Description

The Rocky Horror Show is an outrageous assemblage of the most stereotyped science fiction movies, Marvel comics, Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello outings and rock 'n' roll of every vintage. Running through the story is the sexual confusion of two middle American kids confronted by the decadent morality of the mad "doctor" Frank 'N' Furter, a transvestite from the planet Transexual in the galaxy of Transylvania.

Rocky fans of the midnight movie showings will be able to interact with the cast using all the outrageous call-outs. Audiences are asked not to bring their own props; instead, the Maverick will offer prop bags for $4.00.

Directed by Brian Newell and Dennis Tong.
