STAGEStheatre is proud to present two new one-act plays from local Orange County playwrights.  Earthquake, written and directed by Julie Hommel, is a wry look at three sisters and a literary critic who falls in love with one of them when he hears her writing -- but is he in love with her, or with her writing?  As long as she keeps coming up with writing and keeps her sisters at bay, she’ll never have to know.

The second one-act in the bill is Falling Dreams, written by Eric Czuleger and directed by Patrick Pearson.  This play centers around Fred and Denise, who are forced out of their isolation of a suburban paralysis into the real world to find the answer to a question that haunts them, and find that the American Dream isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Julie Hommel has been writing and acting in Los Angeles and now Orange County for almost 15 years.  In Los Angeles, she was resident playwright of NKP Theatre Company from 1994 to 1998, during which time several of her plays were produced.  She moved to Fullerton in 2004 and is a member of STAGEStheatre writer’s workshop.

Eric Czuleger’s Falling Dreams marks his debut with STAGEStheatre.  Falling Dreams is the recipient of the KC-ACTF Dramatist Guild Award, it has been read in the "On Your Feet: New Play Festival.”  Eric's full-length drama Moonburn will be premiering as a part of Cal State Fullerton's Spring Season in the Hallberg Theater where Eric is a senior play writing and acting student.
