Once again, the performers were outstanding. Had great seats!

The seats were great and the production outstanding.

I love hthis play but not this production. It was difficult to hear, (Ariel's character in particular) and the female chorus was distracting at best. It lacked the magic and artistry that Shakespeare wrote into the script.

I had a fantastic evening...the actors were phenomenal..then venue just intimate enough and the atmosphere was friendly to say the very least.

it's a strange story, but it was well done. the theater has a little courtyard with tables - perfect for a picnic dinner before the show! fun night out.

I loved this performance! First off, our assigned seats were in the FRONT ROW!
When we entered we were immediately impressed by the set. It was unique and interesting, and throughout the performance it proved to have been perfectly created to complement the show.
All of the actors performed wonderfully. Oftentimes I feel Shakespeare is recited rather than truly spoken, but these actors did well at bringing the script to life.
The details of this play were well thought out. Near the beginning, important characters who would come up later were visually introduced, so that they were easily recognized on their later appearances. I've heard that The Tempest can be a confusing tale, but I believe the careful attention to detail in this performance prevented confusion. I had not yet read The Tempest before seeing this play, but came away from it absolutely loving the story.
My only caveat to full praise would be that Miranda's outfit was far too revealing, and unnecessarily so - we were all a bit nervous that she would have a "wardrobe malfunction". I understand that a skimpy/sexy outfit does fit the character, but hers was way overdone, to the point where it detracted from her character and the show. The actress was amazing in her role, but her outfit kept stealing attention and distracting the viewer from her shining performance.
The theatre is outdoors, so those who get cold easily may want to bring a jacket for an evening performance. The Elizabethan pre-show was fun, but short, and not something I would go out of my way to attend... just something I would be glad of if I were going to be sitting around and waiting.

I am a big Shakespeare fan but I really didn't like the performance. It wasn't what I expected. Being Shakespeare's last play and his farewell to his audience, I expected it to be performed differently. The repeated punning around took away focus of some important scenes. The silliness became too distracting to the true literary sense of his work. I also didn't like the stage setup; it didn't give the illusion of an island. It was too humdrum and dull. It had no imagination. Overall, I found it tediously tasteless, boring, and disappointing.

really excellent...do think shakespeare was rewritten for this play, nonetheless enjoyed it thorougly, especially the staging for the pre festival main performance.

As always, Shakespeare OC delivered understandable and meaningful Shakespeare. *Loved* Prospero, Caliban & Stephano.

The play was very well done. The acting, the setting at the Festival amphitheater, and the overall experience was excellent. If you like Shakespeare and are in OC, this is the place to see it.

Good acting by the older actors and nice broad play of the piece's comedy

My friend and I loved it and will be looking forward to next year's event.

The entire evening - company, weather, parking, seats, acoustics, cast, etc. were all perfect!

very entertaining evening!

The play was done well, but I wasn't impressed with the story. The players always do such a great job that it was still time well spent.

I enjoyed the overall experience. It's been quite some time since I have watched a Shakespearean play.

I love to be outdoors in the evening all cozy ...with the full moon above enjoying being entertained and that is exactly what I got. Shakespeare is not my thing but I wanted to experience seeing the theatre. I enjoyed the actors..how hard they worked and appreciated that. I should have read the cliff notes before I went but all in all it didn't really matter.
sk

Not my favorite Shakespeare play, but the acting is good. The actress who plays Miranda can cry on cue, which I find amazing, and she's pretty, which never hurts.

Great play, great acting, great seats!!!

Boring, boring, boring. I have seen other performances at that venue and totally enjoyed it.
A shipwreck delivers a party of conspirators and their guests to an island inhabited by a sorcerer, his daughter, and a mélange of characters, of both the magical and half-human sort. It’s payback time for the villains, as the Sorcerer Prospero now has the opportunity for revenge. But things change for all when the sorcerer’s daughter falls for the enemy’s son, and in the final moment, the Bard leaves us “with such stuff as dreams are made on”.
