Based on journalist Mitch Albom's real-life friendship with his favorite college professor, Tuesdays With Morrie chronicles the lessons Albom learns during visits while his mentor and friend is dying from Lou Gehrig's Disease, or ALS. The two delve into the themes of life, love, wealth, aging, dependence, peace and death. It is through these weekly visits that Albom realizes just how much he still has to learn about values and priorities. Albom's 1997 book by the same name has sold more than 14 million copies worldwide to date, was adapted into a successful film in 1999, and premiered as an off-Broadway play, written by Albom himself, in 2001. Amelia Barrett directs this Buffalo Theatre Ensemble production. Learn More

My husband and I drove 1 hour to see this performance after reading a glowing review about Ms. Barber in the Chicago Tribune. It was an excellent performance, her voice is fantastic, and her "back up" players outstanding. However, I did not understand why our seats were located behind the lighting man, his large keyboard, and a tall "microphone" that was right in my line of vision.
We had bought our tickets thru Goldstar almost one month before the event, and thus should have had much better seats. Is that what Goldstar does? give discount tickets for less desirable seats? I will be less willing to use Goldstar in the future. (The young woman sitting next to me had bought her seats the day of the performance.) I understand Ms. Barber performs at Green Mill in Chicago; I'll go there next time.

Patricia Barber is one of THE great Jazz talents of our day. Her music had everything; humor, pathos and just plain good jazz and her group is wonerful. One of the best jazz concerts I've heard and I've heard a lot!

A superb nuanced performance. If jazz matters to you do not hesitate to see and hear Patricia Barber whose piano playing is on a par with her incredible voice. Her fellow musicans are superb and work as an organic whole. Other than the Green Mill in Chicago the McAninch Center is one of the very few places in the Chicago area she ever performs. Don't miss it.
