Wonderful evening! Great script, Moliere can do no wrong! Actors were wonderful especially Don Juan and Sgnarelle! The latter is a master at comedy. Clever staging as always. I love this theatre, the only one in town where I can enjoy the classics --- and to perfection!
HOWEVER I was VERY nervous about the brief cigar smoking due to allergy---the smoke did not reach me---but it was a HUGE worry and distraction so I couldn't concentrate on the dialogue. I am a theatre director/actor and personally, I believe that pretending to smoke the cigars and using the same gestures to wave it away, would have sufficed. The "knowing" audience would appreciate and understand that. The day for smoking anything on stage has passed. It's bad for the actors and audience.

I've been to other events at A Noise Within and highly recommend checking out their shows, however, this one didn't impress me as much as other productions (WAITING FOR GODOT, DEAR BRUTUS).
The staging was minimal, compared to other productions. The sound design was odd and the direction seemed to be all over the place with female characters going for maximum melodrama and / or camp and the male principals playing it straight (and playing it well, I might add).
Also, the script is a straight forward morality tale that ends all too abruptly and strangely anticlimactically, leading one to wonder if something wasn't lost in the translation.

Hilarious play! Magnificent production by A Noise Within! The female roles were a bit over the top, as mentioned, but the show was pretty much stolen by JD Cullum (Sganarelle), who outdid even a very very well done Don Juan (Elijah Alexander). A genius interpretation of the role, masterful acting, and spot on timing had the audience falling over in their chairs from laughter whenever Sganarelle had a line. Wonderful! I hope JD Cullum has roles in future A Noise Within productions; he's a great actor.

Moliere writes truely funny plays and the Noise Within has found all of the humor in this one. Donna Elvira's brothers are a stitch! Don Juan is gorgeous too. A wonderful evening!
