The fun and creative program will put a distinctive Pops spin on songs by Blood Sweat & Tears, Steely Dan and Chicago, and will have you humming and tapping your toes along with the talented orchestra as they play renditions of these recognizable tunes. The Glendale Pops Orchestra has quickly become a prized addition to Southern California music and celebrates their third anniversary in 2014. Learn More
The GYO is in its 21st season performing at the Alex Theater to an enthusiastic audience. The GYO was formed in 1989 to provide talented young musicians from Glendale and its neighboring communities an opportunity to experience high-level orchestral music making.
The Orchestra participates in a partnership program with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and has performed at the Disney Hall on November 11, 2007.
Over the past several years, the orchestra has traveled to Toronto, San Francisco, Phoenix, and held a chamber music retreat in Santa Barbara.
Brad Keimach, the orchestra music director, is a graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School and is a seasoned conductor of both professional and youth orchestras. He studied conducting with Leonard Bernstein and made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1986. Under his leadership, the orchestra has achieved a very high level of excellence.
