The Glendale Youth Orchestra, led by conductor Brad Keimach, opens its season with a program of true classics. Mozart's Overture to Idomeneo starts the show, followed by Weber's Concertino for Clarinet and Orchestra, featuring 12-year-old clarinetist Andrew Moses. The program concludes with a pair of pieces by Beethoven. The first movement of the composer's Piano Concerto No. 5 ("Emperor") will see 15-year-old pianist Hillary Santoso take center stage, while the legendary Symphony No. 2 in D closes the performance. There will also be a silent auction at intermission, to benefit the scholarship program.
