It was great to see this movie on the big screen. The people at the Alex Theatre did a great job with the program and themed lobby display.

I truly enjoyed this event. I had never previously seen "King Kong"-- either the original nor any of the remakes. It was particularly intrigued that it was presented by the Alex Film Society since they had a narrator on stage who gave a historical background and even featured an actress from the original film as well as a the author of the book: "King Kong".
It was a memorable night and I am grateful to Goldstar Events for enabling me the opportunity to see and experience this art piece in such a special way.
Warm regards,

We LOVE the Alex Theatre, as they always have someone who had a tie in to the movie you're going to see. This time they had the 98 years young woman who was Faye Wray's stand in. She alone was worth the price of admission, she had such wonderful stories about the movie.
Goldstar, please keep offering specials to the Alex, as they are the best!!

We had a great time. Very nostalgic, felt like we were back in 1930's Hollywood. The news reels before the movie were so interesting and conveyed what the climate was like back in the 30's. The theatre was amazing.

Some friends of mine and I like to dress in our vintage clothing from the 1930's when we attend films from that period, and that is precisely what we did for the King Kong showing at the Alex Theater. It was a wonderful time and we got so many compliments on our outfits (men and ladies too) The film was very enjoyable. Afterward we went to Billy's Deli on Orange st in Glendale.

The movie is a classic and still entertaining, but I have to say that it is not of the same Halloween horror movie caliber as some of the other offerings in other years. Also, I find the repeated presence of one Frank Gladstone as cloying and obnoxious, negatively impacting each time he takes to the stage with his pedestrian presentations. It would be better to let the films speak for themselves and keep Mr. Gladstone behind closed, and preferably soundproofed, doors.

I brought my 10 yearl old neice with me. She LOVED it! She sat at the edge of her seat during the battles between King Kong and the various dinosaurs, and thought the special effects were better and more fun than the FX in the more recent remake of King Kong. And, she loved sitting in the balcony of the beautiful Alex Theater. We enjoyed the total experience.

More Details
The classic monster picture that spawned the rest is not simply a cinematic relic. King Kong was created to grip and thrill like no movie before, and these basic principles hold surprisingly true today. From Willis O’Brien’s amazing technical effects to Max Steiner’s score, the details add up to more than the pieces. King Kong has been remade, but never made better. As is usual, the Alex's Halloween show will be sure to delight both fans and families.
