Two iconic American rock groups will share the stage at the Fabulous Forum this summer as Cheap Trick joins Boston for their "Heaven on Earth" tour. Known for their killer pop hooks, Boston sold millions during the '70s and '80s with their catchy version of prog rock. Their self-titled debut was one of the fastest-selling pop debuts in history, spawning three hit singles that became American classics: "More Than a Feeling," "Long Time" and "Peace of Mind." At the same time, Cheap Trick was perfecting the delicate balance between power pop and hard rock that made them a major influence on future punk, metal and alternative bands. Songs like "I Want You to Want Me," "Surrender" and "Dream Police," along with their dynamic live performances, sealed their reputation as arena rock gods. Now, 40 years into their careers, the two bands are still going strong. The "Heaven on Earth" tour is traveling the country in support of Boston's sixth studio album release, Life, Love & Hope, and this is one of a select few appearances where Cheap Trick will be performing with them. Reviews & Ratings
Watch sparks fly when two tremendous musical minds meet Jeffrey Kahane and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. Christopher Theofanidis is “an unusually skilled, communicative composer” (The Baltimore Sun), and LACO performs the world premiere of his piece,_ Radiant Mind_. Pianist Jonathan Biss brings intensity and prowess beyond his years to his playing, showcasing his talent with Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor. LACO’s season of celebration closes with more fireworks through de Falla’s Ritual Fire Dance from El amor brujo and Ginastera’s Variaciones concertantes—two challenging pieces that highlight the “imagination, humor and taken-for-granted virtuosity… [that makes LACO] a delight to hear.” (Los Angeles Times)
