Beautiful on the big screen! I have never seen the film in its true glory, with the expansive, detailed shots. I went for the Uncle Tom's Cabin sequence and I was not disappointed. A moment when real stage magic, with choreography by Jerome Robbins, was captured on film.Written on Aug 18 2009

It was a great print, and the guests (including Yul Brenner's daughter) were an interesting addition to the beginning of the show. The movie was a little slow at times, but overall it was a great time for me and the family.Written on Jul 27 2009

More Information About The King and I
Description
Musical comedy star Mary Martin suggested Yul Brynner for the part of the King in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s 1951 adaptation of Anna and the King of Siam.
Appearing opposite Gertrude Lawrence during its historic Broadway run, Brynner would eventually appear in the title role almost 5000 times during his forty-year career.
When 20th Century Fox produced its lavish widescreen film version in 1956 it was Deborah Kerr who portrayed the English tutor in the blockbuster hit that garnered nine Academy Award® nominations. Among its five wins was Best Actor for the man who created the part.
Hit songs from the show include “Shall We Dance”, “Getting To Know You”, “Hello Young Lovers” and “I Whistle a Happy Tune”.
The King And I is presented in glorious De Luxe color and CinemaScope 55.
