First time seeing this movie on a big screen in Cinemascope. Wonderful colors and costumes. A fun time for the whole family and a Bugs Bunny cartoon started things off.

Beautiful on the big screen! I have never seen the film in its true glory, with the expansive, detailed shots. I went for the Uncle Tom's Cabin sequence and I was not disappointed. A moment when real stage magic, with choreography by Jerome Robbins, was captured on film.

It was a great print, and the guests (including Yul Brenner's daughter) were an interesting addition to the beginning of the show. The movie was a little slow at times, but overall it was a great time for me and the family.

This was wonderful. It is such a fine example of Rogers' and Hammerstein's work, and is great in terms of music, sets, costumes and direction.
Enjoyable for the whole family- a must see.

The movie which i have seen many times, just not on the big screen, was great!. Heard some very interesting facts about the movie, which i did not know. There was a clip that the event planner supposed to have shown us, but i guess he was having computer problems and the clip was not played. Reason why we were there more than we should have.

The Alex is a beautiful theater, which only added to the overall theater experience. This was a terrific event. Seeing this movie on the big screen was wonderful as was the added Bugs Bunny cartoon and the short Jack Benny clip. Many of us think nothing of supporting theater events while vacationing but tend to avoid local events. Please help support local theater. The experience is well worth it.

Fabulous print. The Alex is a genuine treat to see old movies in. Fun to hear bits of trivia about the movie. Great price! Costumes still are dazzling, still a wonderful classic and holds up over time.

The Alex Theater is a beautiful venue, and this event was absolutelty, positively the best time I have ever had seeing one of my favorite films. It was like stepping back through time, with a Bugs Bunny cartoon before the main show. Also, they really made this an "event" by having several people who participated in making this film, including Yul Brenner's daughter come up before the show and sharing some of their memories.
A wonderful time, and gave me a new appreciation for this film. I am looking forward to hearing about other events like this!!!

I liked the movie alot. But, the seats at the Alex Theater were soooooo uncomfortable!
Leg room was non-existent! Beautiful theater but they need to spend some money on renovation of the seats! Must be that people in the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's were really short?
Anyway, the movie was a realy good print. The staff at the Alex Theater was really great!

More Details About The King and I
More Information
Musical comedy star Mary Martin suggested Yul Brynner for the part of the King in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s 1951 adaptation of Anna and the King of Siam.
Appearing opposite Gertrude Lawrence during its historic Broadway run, Brynner would eventually appear in the title role almost 5000 times during his forty-year career.
When 20th Century Fox produced its lavish widescreen film version in 1956 it was Deborah Kerr who portrayed the English tutor in the blockbuster hit that garnered nine Academy Award® nominations. Among its five wins was Best Actor for the man who created the part.
Hit songs from the show include “Shall We Dance”, “Getting To Know You”, “Hello Young Lovers” and “I Whistle a Happy Tune”.
The King And I is presented in glorious De Luxe color and CinemaScope 55.
