Experience the life of a Hollywood icon as the historic Alex Theatre hosts Loretta Young's 100th birthday gala. A paragon of grace and beauty, the Oscar- and Emmy-winning actress stole Clark Gable's heart and advanced women's status in entertainment by becoming the longest-running female host of a prime-time television show with The Loretta Young Show. Leading lady of such films as The Farmer's Daughter, The Bishop's Wife and The Stranger, Young shared the screen with such greats as Cary Grant, Orson Welles and Joseph Cotton. Young's son and daughter will be on hand, along with celebrity friends, to take the audience on a journey through the star's life. Movie clips, conversations, testimonies, dramatizations and an exclusive exhibit of Young's famous dresses and cherished possessions will bring this Hollywood legend to life. Learn More

The service was awful. There were no or very limited number of ushers. People did not know where to sit. People were changing their seats constantly and frequently. 10 minutes into the show, people were still standing around and blocking the view. Also management should really consider completely doing away with at least half of the top rows in the balcony area. We have sat at balconies before, and they were fine. This theater's balcony is oddly designed and very steep with an inappropriate angle. It is like sitting in a tower and you must bend and look straight down. Ventilation was very poor.
On Sunday, December 9th, there's a pre-show Land of the Sweets party from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. This festive gathering includes an array of holiday desserts and seasonal beverages, including wine for adults and drinks for kids, along with live entertainment. There will also be photo opportunities with Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Nutcracker Prince and Santa Claus.
