The Dixie Swim Club focuses on five vibrant women who have called each other friends since their time spent together on a college swim team 33 years ago. Every year since graduation, they've kept their bond alive by spending a long summer weekend together at the same North Carolina beach cottage, leaving husbands, children and work behind to share in each other's challenges and triumphs. Spotlighting four specific weekends throughout the span of these 33 years, this poignant comedy is a blend of tender moments and raucous repartee that brings the beauty of lifelong friendships onto the stage and into the spotlight. Despite some odd directorial choices, this was a good production. Interaction with the audience was handled smoothly, and the characters were lovable if not totally likable. It is a show that requires the actor to play parts "over the top" but sometimes this was taken to an extreme not needed. Beautiful Harmonies! Olive was lovely, and so was her voice. (Logan watch that you lisp ALL the time, it came and went...) We loved the fact that it only took us 35 mins to get to the theater from Mtn View! Love the Theater space too. We will be back!

This charming Tony Award-winning one-act musical celebrates the triumph of doing the best you can. Six nerdy teenagers from Putnam Valley Middle School, in the midst of adolescent angst, discover themselves while struggling to win the school’s spelling bee, run by three equally-quirky grownups.
The Broadway production of this show opened in April 2005 at New York’s Circle in the Square Theater, where it is still playing. An unusual aspect of the show is that four real audience members are invited on stage to compete in the spelling bee alongside the six young characters.
