When the mysterious and sultry Vanda walks into playwright Thomas Novachek's office, he thinks the search for the perfect lead in his latest production might finally be over. But her audition quickly turns into a seductive and erotic power play that'll make you wonder who's really running the show. Among the most acclaimed -- and most provocative -- new plays in recent Broadway history, David Ives' Venus in Fur blurs the lines between fantasy and reality, seduction and power, and love and sex. Despite some odd directorial choices, this was a good production. Interaction with the audience was handled smoothly, and the characters were lovable if not totally likable. It is a show that requires the actor to play parts "over the top" but sometimes this was taken to an extreme not needed. Beautiful Harmonies! Olive was lovely, and so was her voice. (Logan watch that you lisp ALL the time, it came and went...) We loved the fact that it only took us 35 mins to get to the theater from Mtn View! Love the Theater space too. We will be back!

This charming Tony Award-winning one-act musical celebrates the triumph of doing the best you can. Six nerdy teenagers from Putnam Valley Middle School, in the midst of adolescent angst, discover themselves while struggling to win the school’s spelling bee, run by three equally-quirky grownups.
The Broadway production of this show opened in April 2005 at New York’s Circle in the Square Theater, where it is still playing. An unusual aspect of the show is that four real audience members are invited on stage to compete in the spelling bee alongside the six young characters.
