A short distance from the capitol sits Medieval Times' stately Baltimore Castle, where you can gather with family and friends for an 11th century feast and live jousting tournament. Eat a delicious four-course meal of chicken, potatoes and more (vegetarian options available), using your hands, just like they did in medieval times. While you're enjoying your food, you'll be cheering for one of six noble knights who take to the arena on horseback, competing in jousts, hand-to-hand combat and displays of horsemanship as part of an exciting story set in medieval Spain. And the fun doesn't stop there. Medieval Times also features an excellent bar, dance floor, Hall of Arms displaying medieval artifacts and a medieval torture museum. Knighting ceremonies are also performed pre-show.

I did not know what to expect and I must say that both my 8 year old son and I both loved the show. The food was good, a true feast! The only thing I would warn folks about is that you do not have to show up 2 hours early, as some sites suggest. The 2 hour period is a way to get you in the gift shops and does not necessarily get you a better seat. In my opinion all the seats were good and the show runs the length of the arena. I think anyone can get themselves "into" the show with a little imagination. Another thing to be aware of, the barkers of sparkling swords, lights that flash, flags, any kind of junk a child will want wander the arena all through the show, so prepare.

This is good, cheesy fun. It has a bit of a Renaissance Festival vibe to it. The food was pretty tasty, although some dishes (especially the roasted potato) were rather hot and that was a bit of a problem given that you have to eat with your fingers in true Medieval style. Alcoholic drinks are available in the lobby or from wandering cocktail waitstaff and the prices for them are reasonable.

It was a blast! The food was actually very tasty and the entertainment
was excellent! The accoustics needs some improvement but it is really a fun time. We would do it again. Thanks Goldstar for making activities like this available for our enjoyment at a great price.

The Knights

The Black & White Knight
Don Iofre Santa Creu is the defender of the ancient shrine at Santiago de Compostela. Adorned in Black & White, he is mightiest in skill among an order of warrior priests whose arrival upon the field brings despair to the impure of heart.

In prayer, humble. In service, loyal. In battle, invincible!

The Red & Yellow Knight
Lord del Font is the personal champion to the Count of Perelada. The sword of this invincible soldier has raised him to fame. Defeat and regret have been the reward of the countless challengers who have offered their honor and their shields to the point of the Red & Yellow Knight's lance.

The Blue Knight
As a young squire, Don Alberto del Mau earned his place among the Knights of the Realm in a desperate battle. Renowned as a champion of the defenseless, the Blue Knight's blood will not be cooled, nor his vengeance postponed, for those who bring war and unquiet to Valiente.

The Yellow Knight
In defense of Navarre, Don Eduardo del Rey is the rock. The Yellow Knight is well-versed in the arts of chivalry, yet in attack, he is the lion uncaged! Let the ring of steel herald his arrival and the smoke of battle linger in his wake, for a legend of the Realm walks among us.

The Red Knight
Truest son of mighty Castilla, Baron Ruiz de Roig has been called the "lion's heart" in many a battle. Set him at liberty, and paralyze the enemy! With little pleasure will the ambitious look upon the banner of Castilla hanging in the list.

The Green Knight
This warrior of Asturius is an unquestioned master of weapons. Don Temple has never been unhorsed in the joust. No mantle of peace or of serenity will ever grace his shoulders, for his temper is the dragon's claw.

The Court

King Philippe
After years of war and sacrifice, King Philippe finally secured the peace of his ancient enemy, the King of Leone.  As a young man, the glory of battle drove the King, but as the day approaches when his son will inherit the crown, the good King desires only peace.

Prince Tristan
On a mission for his father the King, Prince Tristan must leave his bride in the King’s care and ride to Leone.   With hope for peace in the realm, he travels to sign a treaty that will free the two kingdoms from the harness of war.

Princess Leonore

Princess Leonore, radiant in her noble beauty.  Newly wed, she longs for the return of her husband, the Prince.  Alone at the ramparts, she seeks news of his return and remembers their bittersweet parting.

Royal Falconer
The Royal Falconer performs wonders with his mighty birds of prey.  The tournament includes a live flight of the royal falcon, soaring over the heads of the King’s guests.

Lord Chancellor
Introduces the Tournament of Knights where the guests of the King will behold incredible feats of skill and daring, performed by the brave champions who hail from every corner of King Philippe’s realm.

Herald of Leone
Amid the grand celebration a message from the King of Leone is delivered by this brave horseman who has prepared a special stallion presentation for the King and his guests.

The Horses
Some of the most talented Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament cast members are their horses. They're proud the magnificent stallions are born performers. Nearly all of the more than 400 horses are raised at Medieval Times' Chapel Creek Ranch in Sanger, Texas.

Opened in 1991, the 241-acre ranch in North Texas is home to Quarter Horses, Friesians and Menorcans, as well as the Pure Spanish Horses they breed. The Pure Spanish Horse was prized by medieval royalty for its astonishing strength, agility and even temperament.

Training begins early. As weanlings, Medieval Times horses are introduced to lead ropes and halters. Saddles come at age 2. Long reins and simple exercises such as lunging follow. At age 3, the horses move to their new homes -- one of our nine North American Castles -- where they learn advanced-level dressage from a master horse trainer. Then life as a pampered performer begins.

After a few years in the spotlight, the Medieval Times horses move back to the Chapel Creek Ranch. In the serene setting, they make sure their horses live out their lives in royal treatment.

About the Ticket Supplier: Medieval Times - Baltimore

Medieval Times Celebrates its 25-year reign in North America.

Medieval Times' founders first launched their unique idea for a dinner attraction on the Spanish island of Majorca in 1973. This imaginative new entertainment spot was inspired by the true medieval tradition of royal families inviting guests to a festival and feast to watch Knights compete on horseback.

During the early years in Spain, the show's authentic display of classic equestrian skills and medieval pageantry took place in outdoor arenas, a far cry from the climate-controlled castles of today. There, the conventions of today's shows were established. Guests were seated in sections named for regions of Medieval Spain and encouraged to cheer for the Knight representing their region.

As Medieval Times has grown in popularity both in Spain and North America, some things haven't changed. Like the commitment to the accuracy of weapons and costumes. Others have. The characters and storyline of the show evolve every few years, making sure it stays fresh and exciting for generations to come.
