Singer-songwriter Lionel Richie got his start in Motown as part of the Commodores, but it's as a solo artist that he really shines. He became one of the most successful male solo artists of the 1980s, earning No. 1 hits starting with his debut in 1982 with "Truly." His other hits include the Caribbean-flavored "All Night Long," "Endless Love" with Diana Ross, "Hello" and "Say You, Say Me," which also won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. Now the five-time Grammy winner is following up a sold-out European run with a North American tour, including a stop at Chicagoland's First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. He'll perform hits from his 30-year discography, beginning with his eponymous 1982 debut and extending through 2012's Tuskegee, a platinum-selling collection that features duets of his hits with a variety of artists. Word on the street is that these concerts tend to become a giant sing-along, so brush up on your lyrics and get ready for some of the greatest ballads the '80s had to offer and much more. Sharing the stage with the five-time Grammy winner will be CeeLo Green. Known for his solo career as well as being a part of the soul duo Gnarls Barkley, Green has recorded numerous hits and is most widely recognized for the chart-topping single "Crazy" and his time as a judge on The Voice. We have never driven because the train seems so very simple. I have also read on yelp that there is only one way in and one way out so it can take a long time to leave the venue. It also seems to me that there is alot of imbibing so we just feel safer on the train. We hope to bike next summer!travel • Oct 22 2013 star this tip starred

About the Ticket Supplier: Ravinia FestivalThere's more to Ravinia than merely the world's greatest music. For as many people who walk through Ravinia's gate each summer, there are just as many ways to enjoy what they call "The Ravinia Experience."
For some, it all starts with a picnic picked up along the way, followed by a hop on the train and greeting your friends at your favorite spot on the lawn. Gradually, day turns into evening, and from the comfort of your perfect lawn spot, it culminates in a great concert by candlelight as you gaze at the stars above.
For others, it's a dinner reservation at one of Ravinia's popular on-site restaurants followed by a casual stroll to the Pavilion, where you go to see and hear the stars on the stage.
Bring your own lavish picnic, treat yourself to an ice cream cone at intermission, or just come as you are and leave the details to them.
Since 1904, Ravinia has been Chicago's "sound of summer," a place where you can meet up with your friends, have a wonderful time and hear some of the greatest music in the world. They've got stars on the stage and stars in the sky, and it's all within your reach. Enjoy!
