Aficionado of great live concerts!

It was absolutely WONDERFUL!!! Being able to see UB40 in person was something I never expected to do; I've enjoyed their music since their beginning hit, and own several of their CDs. And getting good seats (27th row center) in the Pavilion for HALF PRICE made it even better!

Ravinia has always been a class act in its own right.
And the set and lighting effects were great!

UB40's revue was well organized— leaving the best hits for last. I was halfway to the parking lot when they started playing their last number— "Can't Help Falling In Love" and my date and I both did a 180 and listened to the very end!!!

Fun One- now and always

I was surprised that even though I bought these tickets through gold star like 3 months prior, I was in the second to last row of the stadium. Had hoped I would of scored better seats.....

More Details About This Event:

UB40
Some may be surprised to learn of UB40’s international success. They have been pegged as one of the world’s most popular reggae acts, and placed along side Bob Marley & The Wailers. UB40 for nearly three decades has traveled the world playing gigs in some of the most unique places such as Tonga and New Caledonia. They have racked up an astonishing 51 hit singles and have appeared on nearly every chart imaginable around the globe. Their worldwide popularity is matched only by their heart, when not touring their charitable work includes raising money for the United Nations AIDS Awareness Campaign and performing at humanitarian based Live 8 and Live Earth benefit concerts. Their reach is far and many say that Bob Marley himself would be proud of the group's dedication to the reggae genre and its message of racial harmony.

Maxi Priest

Christened the "King of Lovers Rock" by his fans, British reggae star Maxi Priest is one of the most internationally popular reggae singers since Bob Marley. Priest's pop and modern R&B influences have given him a strong crossover appeal. His silky-smooth voice is ideally suited for light, romantic material, and his best music is as sensual as it is soulful. Priest released his debut album, You're Safe (Virgin Records), in 1985, which spun off the U.K. hit "In the Springtime." His 1986 follow-up, Intentions, featured two more U.K. successes in "Strollin' On" and the Van Morrison cover "Crazy Love." It was his 1988 album Maxi Priest that ranked as his true breakthrough; his Top 30 cover of Cat Stevens' "Wild World" gave him his first American hit, and another cover, Robert Palmer's "Some Guys Have All the Luck," kept his hit streak alive in the U.K. In 1990, Priest's album Bonafide climbed up the charts; the single "Close to You" went all the way to #1 on the American pop charts. He has released a number of other albums since then, focusing in the late 1990s on hip-hop and smooth soul balladry. (All Music Guide)

About Ravinia Festival:

There's more to Ravinia than merely the world's greatest music. For as many people who walk through Ravinia's gate each summer, there are just as many ways to enjoy what they call "The Ravinia Experience."

For some, it all starts with a picnic picked up along the way, followed by a hop on the train and greeting your friends at your favorite spot on the lawn. Gradually, day turns into evening, and from the comfort of your perfect lawn spot, it culminates in a great concert by candlelight as you gaze at the stars above.

For others, it's a dinner reservation at one of Ravinia's popular on-site restaurants followed by a casual stroll to the Pavilion, where you go to see and hear the stars on the stage.

Bring your own lavish picnic, treat yourself to an ice cream cone at intermission, or just come as you are and leave the details to them.

Since 1904, Ravinia has been Chicago's "sound of summer," a place where you can meet up with your friends, have a wonderful time and hear some of the greatest music in the world. They've got stars on the stage and stars in the sky, and it's all within your reach. Enjoy!

About Ravinia Pavilion:

Ravinia's 3,200-seat open-air, covered Pavilion is the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, jazz luminaries and legends, and some of the greatest pop, folk, blues and country musicians of today. Since the early 1900's, Ravinia has presented opera in concert. Today, it continues that tradition with rare productions of world music, as well as concert performances of opera with supertitles and musical theater.

Ravinia's expansive lawn offers an informal and comfortable place to picnic while enjoying Pavilion and Martin Theatre concerts, broadcast to the lawn audience through their state-of-the-art sound system. Bring your own picnic or visit their variety of on-site restaurants and food and beverage kiosks. Stretch out on a blanket you bring, or rent a lawn chair. It's easy!
