This adaptation left me feeling detached, not truly invested in any of the characters. It's a very wordy play, and it was difficult to stay interested in some of the characters, because the story arc doesn't set up believable relationships. A good effort by the actors, but the deceit set up by the script is so convoluted that we're never given a true picture of where everyone stands.
The venue is gorgeous and comfortable, and I would certainly come back and give a different show a chance.
star this review starred report as inappropriateIt took a long time to get in to this play and it's "humor," and the first half seemed very long and tedious. The way the director handled not being able to change sets between the acts was very creative. The costumes were really bizarre. The men seemed to be wearing women's bed jackets or robes - in pink and blue? It was distracting throughout the play. Overall the play was just "ok." But I'm sure a bigger budget would have changed things dramatically.
star this review starred report as inappropriateFist the theater was excellent (everything looks, new). Next upon arrival (we were early), we had a fabulous in house made desert. The tickets we received were much better than expected (10 rows back and in near the center), and finally the performance was a 10. Superb acting, great costumes, and fun to watch.

Dangerous Liaisons tells the story of rivals Marquise De Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont who use sex and passion as a weapon in their thrilling game of revenge and power. Our production will be one of the most jaw dropping and heart stopping versions of the play you will ever see!
In pre-Revolutionary France, the Marquise de Merteuil and her sometime lover the Vicomte de Valmont amuse themselves by plotting the seduction of two women of virtue: the virginal Cécile Volanges and the respectably married Mme de Tourvel. But as their cynical game proceeds, the players’ motives grow deeper – and more deadly.
This Olivier Award-winning drama is based on a sensationally popular novel so scandalous that it was banned in the 19th century as an outrage to public morality. Audiences may be familiar with the story through the 1988 film version starring John Malkovich and Glenn Close or the updated, modernized version Cruel Intentions starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillipe in 1999.
Dangerous Liaisons deals with mature subject matter and includes brief nudity and sexual content. The subject matter of this play is most appropriate for audiences ages 18 and older.
