I had an awesome time! I luv that you can bring all your own goodies OR opt to buy from vendors...Good friends, Great crowd full of friendly, happy people all there to have a good time...Well for the most part anyway. There was a bit of a disturbance from some folks who obviously couldn't hold their liquor and started fighting (hardly avoidable these days, there's always an idiot or two just about anywhere you go), but other than that it was great! The ROOTS turned it out and gave an amazing performance. I can't wait to go again next year!Written on Jun 24 2011

My goodness, this is the 8th? 10th? Hollywood Bowl Playboy Jazz Festival that I've been to. The consistency from year to year is amazing. Incredibly well run, an interesting range of groups, the best audience in L.A., and Bill Cosby non-hosting. Honestly Bill, if you're not even willing to pronounce the names of the bands so we can hear them, much less come out on stage, can you just turn the reins over to someone else? Really.Written on Jun 13 2011
As to the bands themselves, sometimes I love the lineup, then some years, like this one, I only really liked one group, but who cares? If you love jazz this is an absolute must do. Every year.

I ended up forfeiting my tickets because the parking situation looked unworkable. Stacked parking for a 7-hour event? Unbelievable.Written on Jun 24 2011

It was very enjoyable, but I go to a number of jazz festivals in a year and have enjoyed a better grouping of jazz performers at the other events.Written on Jun 17 2011
