This shorts program celebrates the directorial work of actresses-turned-directors, Oscar winners, emerging filmmakers, experimental artists, documentarians, animators, and cinema pioneers.
Featured shorts:
Kirsten Dunst’s Bastard (2010, USA, 6 mins). A young couple in crisis find their way to a desert motel.
Cynthia Wade’s Born Sweet (2010, 29 min, Cambodia). Winner of Best Documentary at Aspen ShortsFest, the latest from Oscar-winner Wade tells the courageous and inspirational story of a 15-year-old Cambodian stricken with arsenic poisoning.
Sam Taylor-Wood’s Love You More (2008, 15 min, UK). Set in 1978 London, this classroom-set teenage love story is from Nowhere Boy director Taylor-Wood.
Kate Lain’s Git Along, Little Dogies (2010, 9 min, USA). A woman confronts the fact that she's always been defined by her breasts rather than by her actions and accomplishments.
Amy Ephron’s Chloe @ 3 A.M. (2010, USA, 8 min.). A contemporary deconstructionist film told partly through dance and featuring the Maia Harari Dance Theatre.
Shawneé & Shawnelle Gibbs’ Sule and the Case of the Tiny Sparks (2010, 11 min, USA). A young African girl solicits the help of Sule, a pint-sized detective.
Liz Blazer’s Backseat Bingo (2004, 5 min, USA). An animated documentary about senior citizens and romance.
