The Bluegrass Association of Southern California presents An Evening of Bluegrass Music at the Ford Amphitheatre. Two great bluegrass bands in an incredible facility at the Ford. With open seating, I had 4th row center seats, although every seat is wonderful at this theatre.
I have been attending "An Evening of Bluegrass Music" for the last
several years. I have always had a good time. This was the best so far.
I love this! The bands were fabulous, as always! We arrived early enough to enjoy a picnic dinner. Great acoustics, courteous staff, beautiful theater. Easy access to the freeway is a bonus. Ticket purchase and pickup is such a breeze - I highly recommend this for the first time buyer.

The 1241-seat outdoor Ford Amphitheatre is set against a backdrop of cypresses and chaparral in the Hollywood Hills. It is relatively intimate: no patron is more than 96 feet away from the stage. Music, dance, film, theatre and family events are presented during the summer months. The Ford Amphitheatre Season is a program of the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out
As a founding member of IIIRD TYME OUT, Russell has seen the group expand, and evolve, from where it started to where it has risen today. Originally from Pasadena, Texas (true home state of the ‘Whataburger’!!), he now lives near the foothills of the north Georgia mountains in Cumming. Russell, born December 21, 1963, began playing music around the age of eleven after being inspired by bluegrass greats ‘The Osborne Brothers’, and joined a regional band at the age of fifteen, playing concerts and festivals in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. Around 1982, he moved to Arlington, Texas, and helped form the bluegrass band ‘Southern Connection’. After almost two years of living in Arlington, the ‘band’ moved east and settled in Asheville, North Carolina. In 1985, Russell went to work for the bluegrass band Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. After six years, and seven recordings, with Quicksilver, Russell left to help form IIIRD TYME OUT in 1991. Russell has been awarded several ‘Male Vocalist’ awards to date, two of the most prestigious being the coveted ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). He lives in Cumming, GA. with his wife, Carol (married November 16, 1985) and two sons, Taylor (born Dec. 29, 1990) and Spencer (born April 12, 1994). When he’s not touring, Russell spends his time working in the offices of Chateau Music Group (which he co-owns), maintaining their tour bus, and spending as much time as possible with his family.
Cliff Wagner and the Old #7
Cliff Wagner & the Old #7 have an original sound that utilizes bluegrass, blues and honky tonk combined with modern lyrics that preserve the "High Lonesome Sound" of traditional music and brings it into the 21st century. Combine that with great harmony singing and exciting instrumentals and you have a live show for people of all ages and backgrounds that gets you out of your lawn chair and onto the dance floor. Band members include Cliff Wagner, Patrick Sauber, Jesse Harris, and Lucas Cheadle.
