The concert was exactly as I expected. The musicians were very skilled and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
The 1241-seat outdoor Ford Amphitheatre is set against a backdrop of cypresses and chaparral in the Hollywood Hills. It is relatively intimate: no patron is more than 96 feet away from the stage. Music, dance, film, theatre and family events are presented during the summer months. The Ford Amphitheatre Season is a program of the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
From its home in the “Kingdom of Crystal” on the Baltic, one of Sweden’s top chamber orchestras makes its first visit to Los Angeles. Music of Nielsen, Stenhammar and Piazzolla complements the evening’s centerpiece: Beethoven’s Opus 132 quartet arranged for string orchestra, from Camerata’s newly released CD of all the Beethoven Late Quartets.
