The L.A. Phil's famed summer concert series is back for another season of great classical music to be enjoyed outdoors at the historic Hollywood Bowl. Several world-famous pianists join the acclaimed orchestra as soloists this year, including Jean-Yves Thibaudet, playing Ravel, and Yefim Bronfman, taking on Brahms' dramatic and notoriously difficult Second Piano Concerto. Among the conductors wielding the baton are Leonard Slatkin, Lionel Bringuier and Stéphane Denève, for a program of great works by Russian composers. And let's not forget the fireworks, set to go off at a special Thursday event featuring music by Bernstein and Gershwin. Please see the full description for specific program details.

Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring at the Hollywood Bowl

Full Price:
$30.00
Our Price:
$18.00

The Los Angeles Philharmonic performs one of Stravinsky's most influential works, The Rite of Spring, in its 100th anniversary year. When the piece premiered in 1913 as a ballet, Stravinski's avant-garde score combined with Vaslav Nijinsky's equally avant-garde choreography nearly caused a riot in the audience and sparked a revolution that changed the course of classical music. This masterpiece of orchestral color and energy is led by a master of those elements, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Principal Conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. Also on the program, fiery and expressive young violin virtuoso Augustin Hadelich tackles the temperaments of Tchaikovsky's beloved Violin Concerto. Learn More

Excellent as always; chilly as always! The Bowl never ceases to surprise folk with how **cold** it is - but the music keeps ya going!

The seats were very good, near the middle and center area.
Definitely take a sweater, jacket or blanket for when it gets cold.
Seat cushions are a big help too. The wooden benches are nice but not comfortable for the long haul.
Take your own food.
Get there a little early too so you can get decent parking close to the Bowl.

Event was fantastic! The acoustics at the Bowl, as always, are spot on. The bench seats can be taxing on the derriere, so plan ahead and bring a seat cushion or rent a Bowl cushion. I would also suggest bringing a sweater or light coat as the Bowl tends to be cool (weather wise) at night. Don't forget your picnic baskets with assorted snacks. I don't mind the Bowl's snack shops, but i would take wine and cheese over snack shop food any day.
