Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring at the Hollywood Bowl
- Full Price:
- $30.00
- Our Price:
- $18.00
The Los Angeles Philharmonic performs one of Stravinsky's most influential works, The Rite of Spring, in its 100th anniversary year. When the piece premiered in 1913 as a ballet, Stravinski's avant-garde score combined with Vaslav Nijinsky's equally avant-garde choreography nearly caused a riot in the audience and sparked a revolution that changed the course of classical music. This masterpiece of orchestral color and energy is led by a master of those elements, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Principal Conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. Also on the program, fiery and expressive young violin virtuoso Augustin Hadelich tackles the temperaments of Tchaikovsky's beloved Violin Concerto. Learn More

view more less of this reviewI was really impressed with our ticket area. We were perfectly centered to the theatre and in my opinion had amazing seats, my parter was also pretty impressed.
BE ADVISED: we were new to the bowl - you can't bring umbrellas into the theatre but they do have a 'check item' area that was free to use. The staff were very friendly about pointing us in the right direction but it would have been nice to know ahead of time since we would have left it in the car.

star this review starred report as inappropriateThe seats were very good, near the middle and center area.
Definitely take a sweater, jacket or blanket for when it gets cold.
Seat cushions are a big help too. The wooden benches are nice but not comfortable for the long haul.
Take your own food.
Get there a little early too so you can get decent parking close to the Bowl.
star this review starred report as inappropriateEvent was fantastic! The acoustics at the Bowl, as always, are spot on. The bench seats can be taxing on the derriere, so plan ahead and bring a seat cushion or rent a Bowl cushion. I would also suggest bringing a sweater or light coat as the Bowl tends to be cool (weather wise) at night. Don't forget your picnic baskets with assorted snacks. I don't mind the Bowl's snack shops, but i would take wine and cheese over snack shop food any day.
