I took my fiance and two teen-aged girls. As usual Goldstar produced great seats and we had a most enjoyable evening. Surprisingly, the Bowl wasn't sold out but nearly 4/5 full. The Village People opened the show and set the tone for the evening. Their set was raucous and hilarious. The VP are getting abit long in the tooth, but their enthusiasm for what should have been tired material certainly overcame the familiarity of their material, and by the time they launched into YMCA, the whole bowl was up on their feet, arms waving and spelling, "Y", "M","C","A" with a !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A nice touch was a Disco Kareoke to such tunes as "Stayin Alive" and "I Will Survive". Le Chic had some equipment difficulties and their delayed opening almost stopped the momentum, but despite a somewhat tinny and brittle sound, this solid R and B unit had the house rockin by the end of their act, with everyone dancing to "We Are Family". Kool and the Gang took the stage with an odd blaring of snippets of their greatest hits. (WT-?!) Why do that, and steal their own thunder. In any event, when they hit it their groove, their infectious sound and enthusiasm, with choreographed dancing and swinging of instruments, was reminiscent of Earth Wind and Fire in their heyday. Although, only the Village People could be considered in my view the only "disco" music of the evening, the show was terrific. Oddly the three female vocalists, including Thelma Houston and Evelyn Champayne came out and showed us that they still have it. The show as nearly 3 hours, and one of the better pop music shows I've seen at the Bowl.Written on Sep 28 2009

Well.....it was a fabulous night, worthy of those long ago disco nights I remember. My group was 14 and along with fantastic seats, we had extra room around so, dancing was constant. It was above my expectations. Goldstar helped coordinate all of my seating needs and couldn't have been nicer. I tried going through the Bowl itself, but was not offered any discounts for a group. THANK YOU GOLDSTAR !!!Written on Oct 02 2009
