A Japanese animated fantasy film for children of all ages, The Secret World of Arrietty explores the magical world of the Borrowers, tiny people who take up residence in other people's homes and "borrow" things to get by. Based on Mary Norton's acclaimed children's book series (The Borrowers), this film adaptation was created in Japan and originally directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi of the renowned Studio Ghibli. The English-language version was directed by Gary Rydstrom and features the voices of Bridgit Mendler, Amy Poehler, Carol Burnett and Will Arnett. The El Capitan Theatre is the perfect theatre to watch a Dinsey movie. The Holiday live performance prior to the show was a great treat!! I always enjoy the live performance with all the Disney characters including Mickey and Minnie!Written on Nov 29 2009
The Disney Christmas Carol movie was well directed and Jim Carrey did a great job as Scrooge.

What a great time for all ages!!! The story was, of course, entertaining -- but the pre-show was truly unexpected. The singing and dancing was so much fun and the snow confetti was a great touch. The movie itself rocked and 3-D technology has really come a long way!!Written on Dec 14 2009

We had a pretty good time going to see this. We got there about an hour before and waited in line until 20 minutes before the start of the show. It wasn't too crowded and we found great seats in the first row of the balcony. The live pre-show was a little cheesey, but what do expect from the Mouse? =) I loved the previews in 3-D, especially the one for the upcoming "Alice in Wonderland" (a la Tim Burton). "A Christmas Carol" was pretty faithful to story we all know and love. It was fun to figure which voices belonged to which actors (Gary Oldman, Jim Carrey, Bob Hoskins, Cary Elwes, Colin Firth). The parts with the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come could be a little scary for little ones, although the scenes with the younger, pimple-faced Jim Carrey were a little creepy, too. Expect the typical Jim Carrey overacting and silliness (hehe... that's what happens when you animate someone that's already a cartoon character himself).Written on Nov 09 2009

Description
Disney's A Christmas Carol captures the fantastical essence of the classic Dickens tale in a groundbreaking 3-D motion picture event. Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk and his cheery nephew. But, when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late.
The stellar cast is led by multi-faceted actor Jim Carrey who, like many of his co-stars, appears in several pivotal roles.
In addition to portraying Ebenezer Scrooge at various ages old and young, Carrey brings to life the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Christmas Yet to Come.
Gary Oldman stars as Jacob Marley, Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim. The film also stars Cary Elwes, Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins (also in multiple roles), and Robin Wright Penn.
