While the theatre troupe that put this production together needs praise for a noble effort at doing an edgy piece of theatre that is entertainingly written, I feel this production was lacking. The performances were in some cases amateurish, the set decoration was non-existent, costuming was acceptable, and lighting was minimal. Overall the theatrical experience in this extremely small theatre space, only about 40 seats, wasn't worth the price and I left at the intermission not to return for the second half of the show. No one was laughing at the lines that the playwright clearly included for entertainment. This theatre and group of actors is more like a workshop space/group, that performs for casting directors or for other actors, but not for a paid audience with tickets sold through Goldstar. I bought through Goldstar because I thought it was going to be a professional presentation, and I was disappointed on a somewhat amateurish production. They did offer drinks for pay including beer and wine - big plus. This theatre doesn't have a local bathroom - they instead give you a key and a map to the shopping center's bathroom at a distant location. This theatre is in a strip mall in Hollywood, next door to a tattoo parlor, although the Sunset Boulevard and Highland location was easy to find. I recommend this theatre group think of scaling down their aspirations of selling tickets until they increase the theatrical experience level for a paid audience.Written on Mar 31 2008

Description

Witness the kind of theater that wakes you up, not lulls you to sleep. The type of show that was intended as an enlightenment and a shock to the schizoid culture in which we reside. As numerous characters chart the excesses of a generation raised on speed and self indulgence, we witness the very transformation of the post-modern theater to what it has become today. The artist who will not create do to the “powers” entering his head. The coked out industry executive juggle his mistress, wife, friends and enemies. The confession of a young professional as she dreams of murder in the workplace. This is the type of show meant for theater, not an outline for film. An awakening from the ideological surplus in which we reside.
