More Details About This Event: Reprise presents Free Style at the Ford Amphitheatre. This special event features collaborations between LA's urban youth and top composers from the pop music world and Broadway.
In a ground breaking new program, Reprise paired fifteen young lyricists with professional musical theatre, film and pop composers including Desmond Child ("Livin' La Vida Loca"), Stephen Bray (score of The Color Purple, Madonna's "Into the Groove"), Michael Skloff (theme to Friends), Eric Whitacre (Paradise Lost), and Lauren Christy (co-writer of songs for Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, and Christina Aguilera). Special guests include The Cosby Show's Malcolm-Jamal Warner and members of acclaimed dance troupe The Groovaloos.About Reprise Theatre Company: Reprise Theatre Company, is an 11 year old enterprise whose purpose is to celebrate the greatest of American art forms — the Broadway Musical Theatre. Our goal is to bring to Los Angeles the classic and best American musicals of this century. About Ford Amphitheatre: The 1241-seat outdoor Ford Amphitheatre is set against a backdrop of cypresses and chaparral in the Hollywood Hills. It is relatively intimate: no patron is more than 96 feet away from the stage. Music, dance, film, theatre and family events are presented during the summer months. The Ford Amphitheatre Season is a program of the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. |
