Never thought we'd have a chance to see Ludovico here in the States. I heard the ad on the radio in the morning and found the tickets on Goldstar on the same day. The performance was wonderful. The Ford has great acoustics and the show is very intimate. We got there early and sat on the third row. Best seats ever.Written on Oct 19 2010

A good show all & all - a little cold & damp for the evening, but all of the performances seemed to warm us up.Written on Oct 19 2010
The theatre does not have any bad seats & the acoustics are always right on. A very pleasant evening for the Italian music stars.

- "[Einaudi] explores a gorgeous, lyrical sonic system that spins perilously close to the spiritually ornamental world of new age music –– so close, interestingly, that one finds one’s self reconsidering the undeniable power of merely beautiful music.” —Bluefat
Description
Top music venues in New York and Los Angeles will play host the second edition of HIT Week, the annual American showcase of Italy’s current music scene.
Los Angeles audiences are invited to the beautiful outdoor Ford Amphitheatre on October 14 as KCRW presents the most popular musician you’ve probably never heard of, renowned pianist Ludovico Einaudi.
If you’re a fan of film, television, or the NBA, you’ve probably heard Einaudi's lyrical, atmospheric works. Einaudi blends evocative piano Minimalism with almost Impressionistic touches of ambient electronica, strings, and percussion. But Einaudi is neither a conventional classical composer nor an electronica artist; and this is the reason his name is not better known in America…yet. His song "Divenire," which introduced him to American listeners, reached the top 10 in Billboard’s Classical Crossover chart, hit #1 on the iTunes classical chart, and was #78 on the iTunes pop chart. Audiences have turned out in force whether he’s performing at the hot new club Le Poisson Rouge in New York or selling out the famed Royal Albert Hall in London.
His new album, Nightbook, is a #1 seller on the iTunes classical charts in the U.S., Italy, France, Germany, and the UK. Nightbook is a good metaphor for Einaudi’s music itself with its bewitching brew of popular and classical music, made with acoustic piano and subtle electronics, emotional directness and subtle orchestration. It will appeal to fans of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s film scores, 19th century French composer Erik Satie’s deceptively simple piano works, the post-rock anthems of Iceland’s Sigur Ros, the musical minimalism of Philip Glass, and the ambient music tradition that stretches from Brian Eno to Aphex Twin. In fact, it’s much easier to enjoy than it is to describe.
Hitweek is at The Ford again on October 15 to present multi-platinum Italian singer Elisa whose ballad “Dancing” was recently featured on So You Think You Can Dance. That song, and the album Then Comes the Sun, entered the iTunes top 20 single chart in North America. “Dancing” also ranked 25th in the Billboard Hot Singles Recurrent for the Year. Elisa’s first album in North America, entitled The Dancing Album, a collection of Elisa’s best ballads, climbed to number 5 on Billboard’s Best Album list of 2008. A live performance of “Dancing” is spotlighted on the DVD release Vivere: Andrea Bocelli Live In Tuscany, which also features her sublime duet with the legendary tenor on “La Voce Del Silenzio.” Elisa’s sixth studio album, Heart, was released in 2009 and immediately topped the Italian album charts and has already gone triple platinum. It includes 14 songs produced by Elisa along with Andrea Rigonat, including an emotional duet with Antony Hegarty, the lead singer of the band Antony and the Johnsons.
Also on the October 15 bill is young, sultry alt pop duo La Blanche Alchimie (LBA). Lead singer Jessica Einaudi and pianist/guitarist Federico Albanese met when they had both quit university to follow their real passion: music. LBA started as a game, an exchange of feelings and vibes, drawing influence from the Velvet Underground, Portishead, Erik Satie, Asian cinema and T.S Elliot poems. The duo experimented with fusing torch songs, acoustic rock, and cool beats and found their own unique voice. The harmonies and the continual dialogue between voice and music produce a very original sound that is unquestionably romantic, refined, dreamlike, minimalistic and nocturnal. They are critically acclaimed for a remarkable live show that brings to life the hypnotic and decaying atmosphere of their songs.
