Aaron Copland's Pulitzer Prize-winning Appalachian Spring, commissioned by choreographer-dancer Martha Graham, headlines this Los Angeles Philharmonic performance at the Hollywood Bowl, which also includes Maurice Ravel's Mother Goose suite and Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto. Conductor Ludovic Morlot will bring to life Copland's orchestral suite, which brings to mind images of majestic American vistas. The evening opens with Ravel's interpretation of the magical world of fairy tales, and continues with one of the most popular 20th-century concertos, Barber's Violin Concerto, featuring Simone Porter. Bathrooms for our bench seating were behind and to the left. The line gets long, but moves fast. It also helps if the men are aware that their bathroom is just beyond the women's so they don't have to wait in the same line with us. This happened, but once they were informed and left the women's line, the line went even faster. :)
