The event was interesting, all the vendors had cards for each sake so you could take it and remember the ones you liked. I think the set-up could have been a little better as far as people lining up for tastings, but overall it was nice. The vendors except for 1 guy were all pleasant and informative.

This event took place at one of the ballrooms in the Marriott Renaissance Hotel on the corner of Highlands and Hollywood. The ballroom was dimly lit and there were different vendors setup around the perimeter of the ballroom. I agree that getting to the tables was difficult and that getting sake took awhile as each vendor poured from the bottle.

There was one vendor that had it right in my opinion and that was have the tastings pre-poured so that way you could just come up and grab one and leave if you didn't want to hear about the sake.

There was a sake class available but I didn't get signed up for the earlier ones only the last one at 10:30pm. By the time that rolled around, I didn't have any more interest to take it since the event was ending at 11:00pm.

They did have some appetizers provided by the hotel which helped keep the drunken munchies at bay. There was also a sushi restaurant Kabuku (Kubuku?) providing sushi rolls.

Overall me and my friends had a fun time. We all got rooms at the hotel so that we wouldn't be driving home drunk. There was no better feeling than to stumble from the ballroom, up the elevators, and into bed.

Best sake I had that night, TY KU white bottle. An elite Junmai Daiginjo sake. Needless to say, they ran out of it within the first hour since there were limited bottles (retails for $250/bottle). Early bird gets the worm.

I really loved that they didn't sell the sake, but were more interested in gettting people interested in it. I learned quite a bit, but not in the class we took. The speaker was very dry and gave too much background information and not enough about what to look for when tasting.

I attended this event with several friends who are informed sake connoisseurs unlike myself. I enjoyed the varieties of sake available, several were excellent and several were not- as expected. The enviroment was casual and not stuffy, the DJ was average. A good balance of men and women attended. Although I am not into karaoke the attempt to set up a karaoke room was sad- or maybe I didnt drink enough sake. It was a fair value overall but the party did not start or end for us at the festival.

Excellent event with informative sake vendors who were generous with their time and their samples. The fruit, cheese, bread and handrolls offered were also plentiful. Had a fabulous time and would most definitely recommend and attend again.

A wide variety of sakes available to taste. We ate dinner before the event, but was pleasantly surprised that there was adequate food there to soak up an over indulgence of sake. The made to order handrolls were amazing! Some vendors had servers who had no knowledge of the sakes they were pouring, but wasn't that big a deal. Would've held up the line for those who just wanted to taste and jet to the next vendor. Hit the room for informational classes too late, but managed to be entertained in the karaoke room.

There were a number of good sakes and each vendor had promotional material to describe its products. There were two drawbacks: 1) two seminars on the finer points of tasting sake were already full by the time I arrived at 8:10 (the event started at 8:00) and 2) the layout for the tables caused a lot of crowding, which made it difficult to try and get info on certain sakes. Beyond these two issues, the event was a fun one.

I knew very little about sake and came out with a few take-aways. They had a nice appetizers spread and sushi too. Totally worth it!!

The table set up was horrible, very difficult to get to the tables. I was really expecting to learn something about Sake, as I know very little. There was NO information of an educational variety, Just a tasting. Very Disappointing in that respect.

Overall this was a nice event. Luckily, we got there early because once more people arrived, it was nearly impossible to get sake. People were just crowded around the tables, so I would suggest a different set up next time, but it was fun and they offered a nice snack table as well.

The event was good. The set-up for samples was not good. The hotel was hard to get to because of Bowl and Hollywood traffic. Overall, not bad. Will do again.
