"Princess of Darkness" Wednesday Addams is in love with a perfectly normal boy from a respectable family, a situation which presents a real problem for Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester and the rest of the Addams family. Inspired by the macabre comic strip which later spawned a hit TV series and two movies, this musical version of The Addams Family features a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, the team behind Jersey Boys, music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party) and direction by Shockheaded Peter's Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch. I really liked the movie when it came out and that was the main reason I wanted to see the musical. I found the lead and also some of the women playing her friends to be quite scratchy and screamy to the point that the singing sounded bad. The stage and production value was fine, and some actors, like the teacher, were quite good.

Goldstar provided great seats-center, last row of the front mezzanine. This venue has great sight lines, and sound. The show, which is the touring version of the Broadway musical is first rate. Most of the original cast is on hand, and we all enjoyed the show immensely. While certainly not Sondheim, this is great summer fair, and a very enjoyable time at the theater.

Description

It's here, and it's "an Elle of a show" (Time Magazine). The hilarious MGM film is Broadway's new smash hit musical, and now Legally Blonde The Musical is coming to Los Angeles.

Legally Blonde The Musical follows sorority star Elle Woods, an underestimated blonde who doesn't take "no" for an answer. When her boyfriend dumps her for someone more "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style. After turning Broadway and MTV hot pink, this "feel-good song and dance juggernaut" (New York Magazine) is "the best new musical around!" (WOR)

Long-time Blonde Broadway alum Becky Gulsvig will "don the blonde" as Elle Woods in the national tour of Legally Blonde The Musical. Joining Becky onstage will be DB Bonds as Emmett, Original Broadway Cast Member Natalie Joy Johnson as Paulette, Jeff McLean as Warner, Megan Lewis as Vivienne, Coleen Sexton as Brooke, Ken Land as Professor Callahan, Cortney Wolfson as Serena, Rhiannon Hansen as Margot, Crystal Joy as Pilar and Gretchen Burghart as Enid.

Fans of the MTV reality show Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods will recognize two familiar faces in the tour casting: Third runner-up Rhiannon Hansen plays Elle's best friend Margot and fourth runner-up Lauren Zakrin is an ensemble member and understudies the role of Elle. The reality show represented the musical's second venture with MTV. In the fall of 2007, MTV aired Legally Blonde The Musical in its entirety to stellar ratings and was subsequently nominated for two 2007-2008 Daytime Emmy Awards.

Also featured in the cast are: Sara Andreas, Ward Billeisen, Joshua James Campbell, Nick Dalton, Ven Daniel, Alex Ellis, Jay Garcia, Paul Jackel, Sarah Marie Jenkins, Leslie McDonel, Brian Patrick Murphy, Mamie Parris, Stacey Sargeant, Tally Sessions, Josh Walden, Lauren Zakrin and Adam Zelasko.
