Widely considered to be American playwright Eugene O'Neill's masterpiece, this four-act drama concerns the Tyrone family's affairs on a fateful day in 1912. The play contains semi-autobiographical abstractions of O'Neill and his family, covering the consequences of addiction and the family's struggle to maintain their love for each other as they battle individual and collective demons. O'Neill was posthumously awarded both the Tony Award for Best Play as well as a Pulizer Prize for Drama in 1957. In 1962, Sidney Lumet directed the film version starring Katharine Hepburn and Dean Stockwell.

Our Price:

One of the French comedy master Molière's most popular plays, The Learned Ladies (Les Femmes savantes), tells the rollicking romantic story of young lovers Henriette and Clitandre, whose path to the altar is blocked by the prospective bride's mother, Philaminte. Supported by Henriette's aunt and sister, Philaminte insists that her daughter marry a mediocre scholar who panders to that trio's intellectual pretensions. Meanwhile, the couple must contend with several more meddling family members and friends before true love emerges triumphant. Heather Chesley directs this Actors Co-op production. Learn More

It was interesting because it was in inside the church grounds. But the play was great. It seamed a little long after the last intermission, but all in all the cast was wonderful. The play, for the most part, kept my interest. I would reccommend it for theater enthusiasts.

A tour de force describing a disfunctional family with a drug-addicted mother and three alcoholic male members of the family. It is well acted but 3 1/2 hours is somewhat excessive, particularly since the drug addiction is not described in modern ways and there is no comic relief at all. Interesting but not uplifting. G.H.
