Over its three-decade history, the Playboy Jazz Festival has hosted the biggest names in jazz from Miles Davis to Ella Fitzgerald. 2012 marks the 34th year of the festival and will feature music from the Christian McBride Big Band, Ozomatli, Boney James, Sheila E., Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Ramsey Lewis Electric Band, Robin Thicke, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Keb' Mo', Terri Lyne Carrington and more. Held at the Hollywood Bowl, the festival offers two terrific days of music in a beautiful outdoor setting. Although some members of our group didnt make it to the show and we're more than distracted keeping in touch with them, all in all, the show was very good and the fireworks were perfect. Im glad in the end, it was just me and my guy and it made it more romantic. No hard feelings.Written on Sep 09 2008

The music selection was excellent and brillantly executed by the LA Phil and the soloist, Eugene Urgorski. The firework show was well choreographed with the final piece and the USC Marching Band. Even a lone coyote yapping in the background couldn't take much away from the Hollywood Bowl experience.Written on Sep 08 2008
