Subtitled "Hollywood's Christmas Chanukah Spectacular," Lost in Radioland finds John Wayne set to play Scrooge in a radio special. But minutes before air, he's bitten by his horse and unable to perform. The sole available stand-in is Jewish, and will only do the show if his demands are met, including changing "A Christmas Carol" to "A Chanukah Carol." Theatre 68 hosts this new play, written by Ryan Paul James and Denny Siegel. Katy Jacoby directs the holiday joy-filled jolly romp.

The funeral of Sister Rose Marie, an alcoholic religious disciplinarian, brings together twelve outrageously diverse flawed Harlem characters in this acclaimed play by Stephen Adly Guirgis. Sister Rose Marie may have been a mean drunk of an Irish nun schoolteacher, but she caused her former students to examine the many lessons they've learned from her as they struggle against the tide of their lives, sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing, in doing the right thing. And there's one other complication: somebody has stolen the body. Learn More

I was so excited to have a theater alternative to the regular Christmas entertainment. Although the intentions were good, the authentic radio show setting produced a rather humdrum backdrop for a live performance. The sound effect man contributed some stage humor, but most of the production would have been better suited for radio rather than stage.

My husband and I took my 87 year old mother to this play on what would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary with her late husband.
The 3 of us HAD A BALL!!! What was especially pleasing was how the man who played Scrooge told her after the play was over how much he appreciated her subtly uttering the correct pronunciations of the Yiddish words each time the actors would purposely fumble over them. He seemed to be enjoying her as much as we were enjoying his good time playing the role so well.
As usual, Goldstar gets the gold star for another well recommended afternoon. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
