The legendary Madame Tussauds has opened its doors in Hollywood, offering a chance to "meet" over 100 celebrities both famous and infamous on recreations of iconic film sets. It is a lot of fun but not a lot to see. They are still pretty new and so not everything is in yet like they are going to have a waxed hand demonstration where you can make your own waxed hand but it wasn't up and running yet. We spent 1 1/2 hours and made suggestions for more displays. Well worth the price through Goldstar. Wouldn't pay full price but through here well worth it!
Felt a bit repetitive, shallow, and too brief, but the wax figures are amazingly lifelike and the environments created for them very nicely designed and executed. The likenesses are the best I've ever seen (with a few exceptions). Given the expense and work involved in making the figures, it's amazing to me that they allow people to touch and interact with them. The exhibit about making the figures is fascinating. I would have preferred an approach that was more about movies -- recreating more of the movie experience -- than just about celebrity (and interacting with celebrity), but that may be just me. People seemed to really enjoy posing with the figures, pretending that they were meeting and interacting with actual celebrities.
We went through in about 45 minutes to an an hour. It was ok. It was just something different I thought I would try. I would'nt have paid $25.00 that they usually charge to get in.
