Wow, wowee, Wow! What a night. Blanchard and Payton blew their brains out. Long, sustained solos that made me jump. So exciting and what a great respectful crowd around us. Real jazz lovers. Thanks, Goldstar, it was great.

Last night the Miles Davis/Gil Evans Bowl event was great. It was such a lovely summer night with a GIANT FULL MOON. I went because my young pal claimed to LOVE this music. I am not sure about that now, but I know & enjoy Porgy and Bess and enjoyed Sketches of Spain, and of course Miles Davis was very cool. For me the sound people didn’t level the trumpet and horns so sometimes the music was very piercing. And Bowl crowds, especially in the bench seats, HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT, AND YACK & CRACKLE BAGS & DRINK TOO MUCH, LIKE THEY ARE IN A BAR… BUT THE THING I MOSTLY WANT TO REPORT is our Goldstar Tickets were great!!! I knew the section so did not expect box seats, so was not at all disappointed. Another worthy Goldstar purchase!

Jazz just does not do it for me. Too monotonous. I tried. Did like the Spanish segment of the show. Too much trumpet, not enough orchestra coverage with the camera work. Surprised at this ineptitute on part of the Hollywood Bowl>

It was an incredible concert. Nicholas Peytyon and Terence Blanchard were superb trumpet players and the arrangements were just astounding.
Plus it was exciting to have a couple of the original players perform these vintage songs.
