The funeral of Sister Rose Marie, an alcoholic religious disciplinarian, brings together twelve outrageously diverse flawed Harlem characters in this acclaimed play by Stephen Adly Guirgis. Sister Rose Marie may have been a mean drunk of an Irish nun schoolteacher, but she caused her former students to examine the many lessons they've learned from her as they struggle against the tide of their lives, sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing, in doing the right thing. And there's one other complication: somebody has stolen the body. Learn More

This performance was very enjoyable. It was smart, sharp and funny. Particularly, for us it was Uncle Heshie (who reminded us of neighbors we had in our apartment building in NYC) and the nun who stole the show!.Written on Sep 27 2010

This was a very fun night out! There are 5 short plays so that means there is something for everyone. Lots of punchlines and also a lot of heart. The acting is good for the most part - the theater (and set) are lovely and the writing is strong. For a pure night of good entertainment, this is the show to see.Written on Sep 26 2010

Cute, but a little long overall. To us, the strongest part of the night was the nun and her interaction with "Mary".Written on Sep 20 2010
