Thrills! Chills! Spooks! Once upon a time before the days of endless channels and TIVO, families gathered around their radios to listen to the latest suspense plays. Each night they were thrilled and chilled as the events unfolded right in their living room. Now the 68 Cent Crew Theatre Company presents the making of an actual 1950's radio serial, as told through the eyes of a teenage listener.

Buried Child: Sam Shepard's Pulitzer-Winning Family Drama

Full Price:
$20.00 - $45.00
Our Price:
$10.00 - $22.50

Set during the rural economic slowdown of the 1970s, playwright Sam Shepard's universally acclaimed Buried Child resonates as strongly today as it did when it launched Shepard's career in 1978. A Pulitzer winner for drama, Buried Child makes for a fierce, forceful and unforgettable portrayal of the realities of the American Dream. The realistic masterpiece mixes comedy and drama, keen commentary and deep emotion in a squalid farm home occupied by a clan filled with suppressed violence, apparent unhappiness and dark secrets. Kenneth Kelleher directs this San Jose Stage Company production. Learn More

The show was excellent, in spite of a very small audience. Very funky area, the theatre looks terrible from the outside (made my 12 year old son very nervous....) but was just fine inside.
I'm sorry there wasn't a bigger audience to appreciate the wonderful actors and well done re-creation of the radio shows of the 40s and 50s.
Lots of fun, very satisfying.
Bring your own water, there is no drinking fountain in the theatre.
