Citysound Music presents a classical-pop crossover concert of cool and intrepid arrangements of rock songs for string quartet and vocals at the Ford Amphitheatre for Father’s Day. Stunning arrangements, world-class musicianship and the haunting and sultry vocals of chanteuse Kathy Fisher mark Notes from the Edge, teetering on the boundary between pop and classical music performance. With soul, style and wit, arranger Mark Governor and ensemble traverse the wilds of pop, alternative and new concert music, reinterpreting songs in ways that are unexpected and sublime.

The concert will feature songs on the upcoming Notes from the Edge album (spring 2008 release): "No Surprises" (Radiohead), "Peace, Love and Understanding" (Elvis Costello), "Hide and Seek" (Imogen Heap), "Mr. Brightside" (The Killers), "Hey You" (Pink Floyd), "Blue" (Joni Mitchell), Take It With Me (Tom Waits), "Under Pressure" (David Bowie), "Hidden Place" (Bjork) and more.

Mark Governor, a renowned film and TV composer and songwriter, has composed music in 20 feature films and more than 150 TV shows, collaborating with artists such as Johnny Depp, Iggy Pop, Bird York and Ringo Starr. His rock musical The Scarlet Letter boasted 10 weeks of a sell-out run at 250- to 500-seat venues in Los Angeles, Boston and Berlin. His Latin-themed Possession: The Legend of El Rojo is slated for productions in L.A. and Europe in 2008. Mark studied with renowned American composer Aaron Copeland, and in the classical world, concert versions of his suite “On the Occasion of Falling Rain” have been performed by ensembles in Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Phoenix and Boston. A documentary film about his work, “Piece by Piece,” won an Emmy.

Vocalist Kathy Fisher and her band Fisher were signed to Universal Records after three million downloads of their single “I Will Love You” on MP3.com. Between that release and her two independent releases, Fisher has sold 200,000 albums to date. Fisher toured with Duncan Sheik and David Gray and rose to Top 10 lists at numerous national radio stations. Fisher was profiled in Time, Entertainment Weekly and the L.A. Times as vanguards of the digital music revolution. Their television performances include Jay Leno’s "The Tonight Show" and "Live with Regis and Kelly." Fisher has performed in 500- to 600-seat venues such as Slims in San Francisco, the Belly Up in San Diego, the Village Underground in N.Y.C. and the Paradise in Boston. Fisher has also opened in 2,000-seat venues like the House of Blues in New Orleans, the Backyard in Austin and large outdoor concerts of more than 30,000 at the Hatch Shell in Boston, and Cox Arena in San Diego. Fisher secured a spot on the second Lilith Fair tour, taking the spotlight on the last night as soloist on "What's Goin' On?" and fronting a choir that included Sarah MacLachlan, Sinead O'Connor, Liz Phair and the Indigo Girls.

The All-Star string quartet has performed with Governor and Fisher in recordings, live settings and on dozens of film and TV scores. The group of accomplished musicians includes cellist Peggy Baldwin, first violinist Kathleen Robertson, second violinist Alwyn Wright and violist Tom Tally.
