When a couple suffers a tragic accident, their grief propels them into a fantastical world where the Tooth Fairy sings, their flight attendant is a cross dresser and GI Joe offers family counseling. It's a lyrically absurd journey of love, loss and laughter. Jenny Schwartz's play is directed by Rory Kozoll and features Troy Blendell, Paul Caramagno, Alana Dietze, Andrea Grano, Tara Karsian, Amanda Saunders and Jeremy Lee Shranko. God's Ear was a finalist for the 2007 Susan Smith Blackburn Award. Learn More

The first act was very touching as the writer & actors get under the tough old hide of 2 sports writers well along in their careers. They find a humanity both have kept well hidden.

The second act was good fun, and politically up to date.

Good ensemble cast.

Old Glories was a funny and enjoyable afternoon of theatre! Both one act plays, Above The Fold and Red Flags, were entertaining. The actors were fantastic! My favorite performers were Stacey Keanan and Penny Peyser.

Great show. Wonderful follow up to Moment in the Sun. Red Flag had hilarious contemporary commentary (say that 5 times fast!) and Staci Keanan demonstrated her usual spectacular skills as an actor. I think I will go again!

More Information About Old Glories

Description

Above the Fold: In a follow-up to last year's sold-out production of Moment in the Sun from Inkwell Productions, veteran sportswriters Lefty and Manny have their friendship tested when their papers merge and they're forced to compete for the one remaining job

Red Flags: With the Olympics having focused our attention on China, and our presidential election fast approaching, this dark comedy looks at America's trade imbalance and the government's self-proclaimed "flexibility" in dealing with our civil liberties.

By Elliot Shoenman (Home Improvement, The Cosby Show)
Directed by Mark L. Taylor (Sunset Park, Architect of Destiny)

About the Ticket Supplier: Inkwell Theater

The Inkwell theater company is dedicated to producing new works that value the writer; a company where young artists and veterans alike can work in an environment of experimentation, support, and collaboration.

In the spring 2004, the company presented Only the Dead Know Burbank by Peter Lefcourt, followed by The Architect of Destiny by 25-year old Michael Gianakos; and Tango 'Til They're Sore, written and directed by 25-year-old Matthew Hancock. The company's fourth play, Sunset Park, by Marley Sims and Elliot Shoenman, ran for fourteen weeks and was published by Samuel French. Then came Michael Halperin's All Steps Necessary, which was based on a meeting called by Hermann Goering three days after the Kristallnacht pogrom. In 2007, Inkwell produced Moment in the Sun and in 2008 Old Glories. 2011 brought the Ovation-nominated production AfterMath, starring Annie Potts.
